Embarassment Part Deux

February 29, 2008

The singing in this clip is just freaking awful, but worse than that is Obama. Come on, you son-of-a-bitch……..at least put your hand over your heart. It’s not like you’re running for President of the United States or anything.

Friday Fun: Ram It

February 29, 2008

I’ve never been more embarrassed for a group of grown men.

Good Night Wisconsin!

February 27, 2008

Looks like the U.S. Bowling Congress is relocating its headquarters from Milwaukee to Arlington. First, I want to know where these guys will be plying their craft, so that I can go watch them.

And second, I want to know if Big Ern will be making the trip down south too.

Dallas Stars Make A Bold Move

February 26, 2008

The Stars made a major trade today, acquiring veteran scoring forward Brad Richards from Tampa Bay. Looks like the Mavs have started a trend for bold moves by the our local teams. Perhaps the Cowboys will pull something big off in free agency to keep the momemtum going……..IJS.

Season Derailed?

February 26, 2008

Looks like there is one less big man in the West that the Mavs will have to worry about guarding, which is a blessing since they traded away their depth at center. The Rockets are on a 12 game winning streak and recently were ranked number one in the CNNSI power rankings. We’ll see how long that lasts now.

Only In Philadelphia

February 25, 2008

In case you needed another reason to hate the city of Philadelphia, then here you go.

Friday Fun: Kids Say The Darndest Things

Wow, just wow…..

RE: Is There A Reason For This Post?

February 21, 2008

I have the magical touch when it comes to video clips.

Anything I post magically stops working.

UPDATE: The previous clip is now functioning properly again. Feel free to rock out.

Is There A Reason For This Post?

February 21, 2008

There is. It’s because I’m bored and this video is freakin’ awesome.

RE: Why Tony Why?

February 21, 2008

I pray to God that you’re right. I just wish he never would have went down the “celebrity quarterback” path to begin with.  I long for the days when he seemed like a dude we all grew up with who had the cards fall into place for him. He went from being our quarterback to just being one of “them.”

RE: Why Tony Why?

February 21, 2008

It’s not going to happen, bro. The Simpson camp always floats some big rumor about her right before a new album hits the shelves. She is just trying to use her relationship with The Golden Boy to drum up some publicity. Tony is way too smart to get engaged at this point in his career. Trust me…

UPDATE: Notice how all the reports on this are quoting her and her friends and you hear nothing from him? He’s just going to let this die down before moving on to his next conquest.

Why Tony Why?

February 21, 2008

As much as it pains me to say it, Tony Romo is quickly approaching “douche bag” status.

I want my humble, against-all-odds QB back.

April Can’t Get Here Soon Enough

February 20, 2008

texasrangers_newlogo.jpgI was watching the 10 p.m. news last night when they ran a story about second baseman Ian Kinsler signing a new deal with the Texas Rangers. As they were showing Kinsler highlights during the story, a weird sensation came over me. A thought popped into my head, “Man, I can’t wait for baseball season to start again!”

It’s weird because I think that’s the first time that thought has ever crossed my mind. Then I thought back to last year, which was an abysmal year for the Rangers, but a great year for me personally. I probably attended 15 to 20 games last year, most of those with Josh and Jerrod. I think I’m more eager to get back out to the Ballpark than anything else. No matter how bad the Rangers are, going to the Ballpark is always a great time. Whether it’s standing in the left field bleachers on a 100 degree day trying to snag batting practice home-runs while staring directly into the sun or yelling obscenities at Manny Ramirez from our seats along the third base side, there’s nothing quite like being at the Ballpark in Arlington.

Maybe I’m just a sucker for marketing, or maybe it’s just that I’m so exhausted from having my heart ripped out by the teams I live and die with (Cowboys and Mavs), but I really think I’m in need of some baseball.

Mystery Solved

February 19, 2008

Well, it looks like nobody will be taking home the prize for guessing Jason Kidd’s new jersey number. Kidd will be wearing #2. It’s actually fitting since this trade is a big heaping pile of number two.

It’s Official

February 19, 2008

Jason Kidd is once again a Maverick.

Devin Harris and DeSagna Diop are Nets. Two first round draft picks are history. And Keith Van Horn has a few extra million to blow during his down time.

If anyone needs me, I’ll be at the Old Monk drowning my sorrows.

Back To School

February 19, 2008

I usually have pretty mixed emotions about Vince Young. I loved him as a college player and am grateful for the championship he brought to our great state. However, he’s so erratic in the pros that it’s sometimes hard to watch him play.

This story in today’s Dallas Morning News has re-confirmed my appreciation for Young. No matter how he plays on the field, he’s always been a stand-up guy and a role model for kids.

My only question is will he be at the bars on 6th Street at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoons to party away the previous week’s stress. And, if so, how fast can I get down to Austin to have a beer with him?

RE: Almost 30?

February 18, 2008

It’s true, I am one year closer to retirement, false teeth, and yes, the big golf course in the sky. Thanks for bringing it up young’un. Just remember, your time will come.

Oh, and that Howard dunk clip below is absurd and completely defies the law of gravity.

Almost 30?

February 18, 2008

For good ol’ Josh (Harold), the official countdown to 30 has begun. Josh turned 29 yesterday and now has less than a year left to enjoy his “youth.”

Happy birthday, buddy.

P.S. - Appreciate ‘cha pal, I really appreciate ‘cha!

It’s A Bird, It’s A Plane, It’s A Young, Athletic Black Man!

February 18, 2008

This is why I love the NBA.

Why Won’t This Just Die?

February 18, 2008

Seems the Mavericks last ditch effort to win a championship (which is going to fail miserably) is once again alive and well. Trenton Hassell and Keith Van Horn have been substituted for Devean George and Jerry Stackhouse, and the deal is being reviewed by the NBA as I type this.

This trade will make the Mavericks immediately tougher, but it will also make them older, slower, less athletic and not nearly as deep. The biggest glaring hole will be at center after they give up Diop. Hopefully Dampier can play 48 minutes a night, guarding the likes of Shaquille O’Neal, Andrew Bynum, Tim Duncan and Pau Gasol.

I guess in the short term the Mavs might be slightly better, but there’s no way this trade leads to a championship. If anything, it will lead to the Mavs demise before it leads to a ring.

I’ll see you boys in the lottery….
