RE: Chris’ two cents

August 31, 2007

Very funny (and true) on both counts.

Sorry I missed most of this afternoon’s shenaniganery. I just got back from watching the Belton Tigers win their first football game in a year and a half. Scored a touchdown with 25 seconds left to win by one point. I love high school football.

And I love Chris - welcome, bro. I’m expecting great things. The good thing is - it’s gotta be better than the crap Jerrod’s been posting the past week. The bar is set unbelievably low…

Eldrick Woods is two shots behind Lefty

August 31, 2007

Just one word for you, Jerrod.  Boo-yah.

RE: RE: FedEx Crap…Errr…Cup update

August 31, 2007

Josh, there’s no way in the world that Hefty Lefty finishes in front of Mr. Elin Woods. Phil’s only 2 strokes ahead of him now. Tiger has closed 4 shots since the 4th hole. I’d even be willing to bet they are even by the end of the day! Ass!

RE: Hold Up PonyFans

August 31, 2007

Steve, you’re such a wuss, and Jerrod - you’re a freaking sell out. I stand by my earlier comments and challenge any Pony-loving Chris Chris (that’s probably more “into” ponies than we know) to dispute my claims about their athletically challenged football program.

They suck worse that Debbie in her Dallas debut, and nothing will ever change that. End of story.

RE: FedEx Crap…Errr…Cup update

August 31, 2007

Hmmm… seems like you need to get used to Phil beating the crap out of Tiger! I’m calling it now. Phil WILL finish ahead of Eldrick in the FedEx Cup. And from here on out, he’s no longer Tiger. He’s Eldrick to me.

FedEx Crap…Errr…Cup update

August 31, 2007

Phil Mickelson is 3 under through 4 holes. His playing partner Tiger Woods is 3 over. No one else matters do they? I’m so glad Josh is in his car and away from his computer or else I’d already be hearing about this one!

Pony this!…

August 31, 2007

Alright Steve. Listen Pony fans (which if “pony” is a horse of a small breed, it’s quite symbolic that the SMU “Ponies” would be the underlings of D1 football, but call yourselves what you will) I’m a transplant “Homer” from the Austin area where college football is king, and a self-admitted “bandwagon jumper”. So if “the Ponies” actually win a few games and miraculously make a bowl appearance, I’ll retract my comments, put on a polo shirt with a sweater vest and abercrombie flip flops, and buy season tickets to next football season. But until then (never), I’d rather watch the WNBA.

Hold up PonyFans…

August 31, 2007

It seems that Josh has gotten our blog into a bit of tussle with the contributors on the SMU message board, PonyFans.com. I know you boys are making some generalized statements about the writers of this blog, but before you go any farther, let me point the finger at my co-contributors.

I am a Dallas-area native and have loved the Ponies for a long time. However, I attended Iowa State because I could not afford the $40,000-a-year bill that comes with an SMU education. I admit the “Pony Up” campaign is a bit cheesy, but I can see it for what it’s worth.

As for the smacktalk, it’s good to see some fire in the Mustang Nation again! Keep fighting the good fight and if there’s any “slaps-in-the-face” you want me to deliver to Josh and Jerrod, feel free to leave suggestions in the Comments box.

One proud alumnus

August 31, 2007

As we all know, college football officially kicked off its season last night. Lost amongst the several match-ups involving top-25 teams was the opener for my Iowa State Cyclones. The ‘Clones opened the season against Kent State in Ames last night. And to be honest, when I first looked at Iowa State’s schedule and saw Kent State, I thought they’d kill ‘em like the Ohio National Guard kills hippies.

Not so much, buddy. Final score: Kent State 23, Iowa State 14. When I was in school, we could at least take solice in the fact that we could beat the cupcakes and get thrashed by the likes of Texas, OU, Kansas State and Nebraska. Not anymore!

I vote that Iowa State be moved to the Mountain West and that TCU moves into the Big 12.

I Rest My Case - SMU Message Board Excerpt

August 31, 2007

Posted by an SMU alum on their message board:

Do any of you computer guru’s out there know how to get the audio from this video in an Mp3 format?

I rest my case. No doubt trying to download the song onto his iPod that daddy bought him so he can go for a jog. At least he took my advice…

RE: SMU and Their Pony Up Campaign (plus knucklehead video)

August 31, 2007

I had to give these fags something to do while I placed them under citizen’s arrest and locked them in my basement for being the biggest morons in Big D. The Methodists would’ve had more luck creating a marketing campaign for “Pony Sluts” that delved into the life of SMU over-pampered coeds instead of trying to breathe life into an athletic program that hasn’t been good since “the goggled wonder” (Eric Dickerson) played for them. And I’m not even sure they were good then…

SMU and Their Pony Up Campaign (plus knucklehead video)

August 31, 2007

Wow, Adam McGill over on Frontburner is taking a beating from the SMU alums on their message board over his comments regarding a YouTube video by a group called the Knuckleheads. I’m only including a link so you can see the video in question, not because I like it.

Because, truth is, I think it’s a bad copy of the Mark Teixeira video we posted a while back. This guy plays a decent guitar, but his counterpart is not funny, and just looks like a creepy hanger-on who wants to be in front of the camera but has no talent with which to place himself there. The words don’t really flow, the tune is a bad copycat of a thousand other home-made hits.

Truth be told, the only reason this video has any traction whatsoever is because a bunch of daddy’s-money, wanna-be intelligent, Dallas douchebags jump at the chance to root for their athletically-challenged alma mater. The video is bad, the campaign doesn’t make sense when it looks like a pony logo that’s giving directions to the stadium (I agree with Adam), and apparently the guys on the SMU message board don’t have enough brain cells left from last night at Club Dada to come up with something original.

Don’t get your panties all in a wad just because somebody doesn’t like your lame, copycat song. Just download it into your iPod, put on your running shoes and go take a jog with that cool GPS route-maker that daddy bought you since you don’t have a real job to go to.

Oh, and by the way, I think that Adam did very well for himself. His wife is, as described by Adam, very hot. So, there’s that…

RE: Jussi Jokinen signs new deal with the Dallas Stars

August 31, 2007

Dude, why are you writing about hockey when people are dislocating their ankles in pre-season football games? I think that hockey has been replaced in popularity by men’s “d” league softball!

Jussi Jokinen signs new deal with the Dallas Stars

August 31, 2007

Jussi Jokinen just signed a two year $3.625 million deal with the Dallas Stars. He played great last year as their third-line center and his youthful energy and creativity were fun to watch.

Plus, he scored 14 goals and racked up 34 assists with that thid-line. Not too shabby. He’s a great player and I’m glad to see the Stars are rewarding him for a great year.

Save This Guy a Seat in Hell

August 31, 2007

But, Mrs. Lippy, the part of this story that I don’t get is when the guy has sexually molested more than forty young boys and sexually assaulted who knows how many others, he gets to be back out in society, even after being deemed a threat to society. WTF? Are you kidding me?

We have people in jail for tax evasion and white collar crime, and this piece of trash is out on the streets to troll for more adolescent love? Give me a break. Just stick a needle in this guy’s arm and we’ll all sleep better at night. People like that don’t deserve a chance to be “rehabilitated”.

Stories Like This Make Me Sad

August 31, 2007

But, probably not in the way you might think. The story I’m referencing is here, and it makes me sad that we cannot torture and disfigure people who do things like this. Makes me nostalgic for the Old Testament days…

Steve, I think the worst part of YOUR photos is that you’re trying to do it TO your in-laws…

RE: Senator Regrets Bad Bathroom Behavior

August 30, 2007

Ran across this little gem while perusing CNN.com earlier and thought it was a great follow up to our discussion on the topic a few days ago.  Enjoy - oh, and sorry about the pre-commercial at the beginning of the video…

Is it bad that I do the same thing in photos of me with my in-laws?

Mexican Trucks Begin Crossing Border Saturday

August 30, 2007

I wonder how many of these will be carrying cargo that doesn’t consist of cabbage and children’s clothes…
